I've spent half of my life in the North, and half of it in the South. I was born in Illinois, and my family relocated to South Carolina when I was a teenager. I went to the University of South Carolina and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in English. Writing has always been my passion and I am fortunate enough to be in a profession where I can use those skills on a daily basis. I am currently the Weekend Anchor at WBTW News13 in Myrtle Beach/Florence, South Carolina. In addition to anchoring four shows per week and reporting for several others, I also produce the weekend shows.
I've spent about four years at WBTW, working my way up from a weekend one-man-band reporter, to a weekday general assignment reporter, to a fill-in anchor, to the weekend anchor and producer. In addition to turning television stories, I also frequently write stories for the Florence Morning News, which is a convergence partner of WBTW. I have honed skills in television, newspaper writing and writing for the web.
I began my broadcast career as a news anchor for ETV Radio, which is South Carolina's National Public Radio Affiliate. In addition to anchoring several newscasts per day, I also programmed several radio stations, eventually became a master control operator and produced and hosted my own classical music show.
I look forward to continuing to grow in my broadcast journalism career, and embracing the future of technological advances that will no doubt change this profession. Outside of work (if there is such a thing in this job) I enjoy working on craft projects, painting, going to see the symphony orchestra on occasion, and continuing to develop my extensive d.v.d collection.
